Peoria Chapter gathers ten times a year, September through June, for fellowship and informative, entertaining meetings and to promote and support the objectives and programs of both the State and National DAR.
Among other things, during the year we:
Greet each new citizen with cookies and their own American flag.
Select and honor student essay winners and high school DAR Good Citizens.
Support the DAR schools and scholarship programs as well as put forward scholarship candidates.
Participate in activities honoring veterans and members of the armed services.
Participate in Constitution Week and celebrate other historical events.
Find and mark historical sites and graves.
Help collect and preserve historical and genealogical information, sites, and artifacts.
Hold and participate in lineage workshops and events.
Educate our members on historical and civic matters as well as heritage and culture. We are not a political organization.
